Integrative Oncology Palliative Care Program
The Center for Integrative Oncology and Palliative Care Social Work at the UW School of Social Work is dedicated to supporting the next generation of oncology social work scholars and practitioners.
Established in 2018, the Center takes a social justice approach to oncology and palliative care and aims to prepare culturally adept researchers and practitioners who are dedicated to addressing disparities in cancer and end-of-life care based on race and ethnicity, disability, gender and sexual identity, geographic location, income and education.
Palliative Care and Resilience Research Program
The Palliative Care and Resilience (PCAR) Research Program is developing ways to help children, teens, and young adults – and their parents – become more resilient in the face of serious health problems.
PCAR creates interventions that promote resilience by teaching patients and families how to manage stress, worry, fear and negative emotions, while also finding purpose and meaning from their experiences. The goal is to equip patients and families with skills that improve their outcomes and help them lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
